Coach Derek Ward
Derek Ward is the founder of Upward Human Performance, former 3x collegiate football champion and student-athlete at Amherst College a top 20 academically ranked university in the US where he graduated with a degree in psychology. He is now a mental performance expert coaching dozens of athletes around North America specializing in keeping mental performance founded on faith in Jesus Christ.
He founded a performance training facility in Connecticut that was in the top 1% of gyms in the US, home to over 300 athletes and employed half a dozen coaches full time.
He authored the Empowered Athlete workbooks that have sold 3000+ copies nationwide and his mission is to empower 1,000 athletes to discover and step into their God-Given potential and teach them the skills of confidence to execute on their God-Given Purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Do parents need to join the challenge?
Yes, I always encourage parents to be on each call. It is vital for your child to see you active in this challenge as well because I will also coach parents on how they can help their son or daughter build their confidence and support them.
Q2: What if we cannot make the time or miss 1 or 2 of the days?
You will have access to each recording for up to 1 week after the event IF YOU'RE VIP. If you're general admission, the recording will be live until the last day of the challenge.
Q3: What if we sign up for general admission but then decide we want to upgrade to VIP?
Email [email protected] and we can send you a link to upgrade for the difference of the investment. This amount is the same regardless of what day of the program we are on and subject to availability, first come, first serve.
Q4: What are your beliefs/core faith statement?
We believe that the bible is the true, authoritative, and living word of God. We completely trust scripture and use it as the guiding compass for living our daily lives. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Which means two things: First, all of us coaches are in the word daily seeking to understand and live our life by it. Secondly, we coach with the Word as the foundation. Confidence, Peace, Resiliency, is not possible without founding it on the Word of God.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the living son of God, fully God, fully human, our redeemer, our salvation who died on the cross and rose again. He freely gave his life as a ransom for our sins and through Him, we have eternal life. Matthew 28: 5-7 | Mark 16:5-6 | Luke 24: 38-40 | John 20:17
Which means since we are called to be Christ Like, we can model how Jesus lived and what he taught us, to guide us in this life. Especially in sport.
We believe as Christians we are not here to be served, to take, to receive, but to serve, to give, to bless others and serve our King Jesus Christ by sharing the Gospel and leading others by making them disciples for the Kingdom.
Which means the whole purpose of growing confident, resilient, and tough is not to just GET more, but to GIVE more, and lead and guide other athletes to the Cross
